Update in Psychopharmacology:  Bipolar Disorder

Presented by Dr. Alexandra Miller Clark, PsyD, MSCP

Dr. Alexandra Miller Clark is the founder of Live Well Psychology Center, a group psychology practice in Sparta, NJ and also the President Elect of NJPA.  As part of her commitment to increasing access to psychology, she hosts a psychology podcast which has been heard in 150 countries.  She has completed all the training necessary to prescribe, including passing the arduous national PEP exam.

This talk will focus on the pharmacology of bipolar disorder medications and treatments.  The audience will learn about the latest medications on the market and what’s new about the “tried and true” Lithium.  Attendees will also learn about non-pharmaceutical alternatives such as light and dark therapy and the status of “natural” supplements being explored for bipolar disorder.

Learning Objective     --   Participants will be able to:

1.     Describe the new dosing and neuroprotective effects of Lithium
2.     Summarize what recent studies have found on the efficacy of new medications used for bipolar (e.g. Lybalvi and Vraylar)
3.     Discuss the latest studies and protocols on non-pharmaceutical interventions for bipolar disorder.

This program is intended for psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, and graduate students.
